Who We Work With

afterPT

After Physical Therapy

Many injuries are caused by the body’s healing systems getting out of balance. Pilates and yoga can help you exponentially increase your progress towards health and ease of movement. The job of your PT is to help retrain those specific areas of the body toward a pain-free place. Our job is to continue that education and translate it towards whole movement. Whatever your physical goals are, our hands-on approach helps increase awareness in your body of where you need to strengthen and re-align. Without awareness, your body will move back into your habitual patterns and the potential for re-injury will increase.

Palennials

Palennials

Think baby boomer or gen-xr’s, reborn and embracing the technology and global networking of the 21st century combined with an appreciation and integration with the tribal wisdom of the past 200,000 years of human existence. This group values such elemental components of their humanity such as the servicing others, body awareness and movement, relationships, love, romance, ritual, eating, community and spirituality.

Yoga brings mindfulness and conscious breathing into or back into your life – at any age. Pilates Sessions begin with identifying and releasing tension from a day at the office, or a weekend with the play and projects. Both train you in bigger whole movements that get your whole body moving. Runners

The two main things that runners need are joint stability and pelvic mobility. Balanced strength is imperative in the front and sides of your legs to support your knees and hips while running. But just as important is pelvic and lower back functionality and length through the back of the body – not through over stretching, which can put excess strain on the back of the legs and lower back, but through becoming aware how movement happens in the center of your body. These aspects of balance and stability will decrease the occurrence of tears, strains and the variety of injuries associated with running.

New Mommas (and Dads)

Pilates and yoga are more low impact and deliberate than some of your other ‘in-your-body’ activities. Both are a must-have from pre or post-natal moms (and those Dads too!). Pilates is a great way to stay connected with your changing body. We help you create a girdle of support– made from your pelvic and transverse abdominal muscle to keep your low back happy and to facilitate the best delivery and/or healing after delivery possible. Yoga brings you inside and can help with birth preparation, breathing and being mindful during this amazing and wonderful life transition.

Athletes

Sports specificity is great until imbalances become overcompensated for which can lead to fatigue and injury. Pilates works with athletes to re-balance and compliment sports specific patterns in the body, and brings awareness to access core stability. Yoga challenges unconscious tension with conscious tension, on-going tension states contribute to recovery issues which always lead to injury and underperforming. Both yoga and Pilates help prevent injury in alternate workouts by educating and teaching intelligent movement.

Yogi’s and Dancers

We know a lot of yogi’s and dancers who can do amazing things with their bodies but who need to take a break every once in a while to focus less on the objective movement or shape and more on their internal sense of feeling of movement internally. Especially if you do the same postures and movements every day as part of your lineage or practice or routine. An understanding of where those patterns interface with soreness and injury can be gained through yoga that gives value to bodymindfulness and inquiry and Pilates by accessing missing pieces of core and alignment.
